	No attempt is made in this little tutor to teach reading from ordinary musical notation, as so much of the current popular music is now published with the necessary notation specially marked for the instrument. By reference to the finger-board chart (p. 5) the following diagrams as used for marking the chords will be readily understood.
	This is the fingering of         D chord
	Press the tip of the 3rd finger on the 1st string immediately behind the 3rd fret to make the note D (refer to fingering illustrated p. 8'. The other strings will not require to be stopped by the fingers as the\ are already tuned to notes of the chord of D. Now strum all four strings as directed under the heading Strumming. Strings which are played without stopping (open strings) are of course left unmarked.
